Defensive Shotgun

defensive shotgunThis 1 day course starts with a lecture on firearm safety, legalities of deadly force, proper mindset, shooting fundamentals, loading / unloading / reloading, patterning, malfunction clearance, transitions to pistol, shooting while moving, shooting from various positions, use of cover, dealing with multiple threats, and gear selection. 

Defensive Shotgun continues with live-fire range drills that reinforce the topics covered in the classroom.

Although there are no prerequisites for this course, it is recommended that all students be somewhat familiar with their weapons before attending. 

For each paid tuition of this course, C.I.S. will pay 1/2 of an annual membership to the National Rifle Association.

· Reliable shotgun (pump or semi-automatic)
· 250 rounds of ammunition (25 rounds buckshot, 25 rounds slug, 200 rounds birdshot)
· Reliable pistol
· 50 rounds of pistol ammunition
· Strong side belt or paddle holster
· Eye and ear protection
· Comfortable clothing
· Drinking water
· Shotgun sling
· Raingear (we’ll shoot rain or shine)
· Kneepads
· Sunscreen
· Baseball style hat
